Streamax - Retrieve Footage through camera's WiFi connection

Overview: This is an option for users to retrieve footage directly from the camera without pulling the SD cards and using the CEIBA2 software (see article on how to do that here: Instructions for installing and using the SD card viewing software on the AD Plus 2) . You can connect directly to your camera's internal WiFi using a computer (within WiFi range) and it will not use up any of your camera's SIM data.

1. Make sure the SD Cards are in the camera and the camera is connected to power by turning on the vehicle and letting it run.

2. Enable WiFi on the camera by pressing the camera Panic Button on camera 2 times. It will become an Access Point and you will have 3 minutes before it automatically turns off. You will need to follow these steps to configure AP Mode on the camera to keep it broadcasting while you retrieve your footage.

3. Open up your computer's network communication page to connect to the camera's WiFi signal. Your camera's WiFi network should start with an ST- number:

If you are unable to connect, you may have to get inside the vehicle with a laptop if there are too many obstructions of signal between the device and your computer. (For security, you can set the WiFi on the camera to broadcast a unique SSID and set a password password to protect who is connecting to the camera's WiFi network. This is not required, however.

4. Once your device is connected to your camera's WiFi, open up your browser and enter in IP address "192.168.240.1" in the browser address bar. You will see a log-in page, enter in the following username and password (all lowercase):

Username: admin
Password: admin

5. On the left side Menu, click on the Network tab and then on the right menu, click on the WiFi tab. In the Enable field, select "AP"mode. Hit Save. This will allow you to spend as much time in your camera as you need without it automatically kicking you out, as long as the vehicle is running.

6. To view a recording, on top menu click Playback.  Choose, Channels, Date and Time period. you can play it right then.

7. To download video, choose Playback, Channel and Backup.

8. Choose MP4 Data video file format.

9. The backup process will begin and the file will be downloaded to your device.

10. Once the video/s are downloaded, you can view them using your normal viewing software program that accommodates MP4 video files. If you have an issue playing the video/s, you can download a free version of VLC Player (there is a Windows and Mac Version) - We have not seen any issues with this program playing these files.

11. When you are done, make sure you go back to the Network > WiFi settings on the camera and turn the AP mode back to Disable so you don't leave your camera with an open WiFi connection to anyone else.
