Geotab - How to Install a Geotab Device
Follow These Steps:
- Locate the vehicle's engine diagnostic port typically found in the driver's area at or below knee level.
- Align the receiver end of the device with the engine diagnostic port (or use the T-harness if applicable) and push in place.
- Please ensure the device is well connected to the diagnostic port. Once connected, the device emits 6 quick beeps.
- Once the device is connected and receives power, the LEDs on the front of the device start blinking then turn solid once completing the actions below.
Red LED - Device Power Source.
Green LED - Cellular network connectivity.
Blue LED - GPS network connectivity. - The device emits two quick beeps every 60 seconds during set-up. Initial startup may take several minutes to complete. Once all three LED lights turn solid and you hear 10 quick beeps. The device starts updating when the green and blue LEDs turn solid.
Keep the ignition of the vehicle on for 12 to 15 minutes so that the Go device can download the firmware.
The firmware will then be applied while ignition is off.
Navigate to your Geotab portal to verify that the device is communicating.
If this is a new device, click the blue "+ Add a New Asset" button on the top right of your Geotab Assets page, then follow the instructions to add the new Asset name and assign the Geotab serial number.
If you are replacing a device on an existing asset, open that asset's information page, scroll down to the Geotab serial number field, and click "replace with new device" and update with the Geotab device serial number.
