The Onboarding completes after all of these conditions are met:
1. GO device must be communicating — The camera pairs through the GO device (GO9 or newer). If the GO device isn't talking to MyGeotab, onboarding cannot progress.
2. Camera must be powered and connected — Via the Smart Cable (IOX connection). No power = no onboarding.
3. Firmware must be current — The camera auto-checks firmware on every boot. If an update is needed, it downloads and applies it on the next boot-down cycle (ignition off event). Onboarding won't fully complete until firmware is up to date.
4. Calibration over 1–2 trips — The accelerometer uses real-time calibration and typically takes 1 to 2 trips to fully calibrate. GPS signal quality also affects this — weak GPS areas take longer. During the first two trips, the device runs in Troubleshooting Beeping Mode to assist installation verification.
5. Auto-pairing confirmed — GO Focus Plus auto-pairs with the GO device and is self-calibrating. No manual configuration is needed, but the system needs to confirm the pairing before moving out of onboarding.
Troubleshooting When Onboarding Stays Stuck
If a camera is stuck in Onboarding and won't progress:
- Confirm the GO device is communicating with MyGeotab (check last trip/contact)
- Verify the Smart Cable is seated properly — a loose IOX connection is a common culprit
- Check if the GO device firmware is current (camera firmware follows after)
- Ensure the vehicle has completed at least 1–2 trips (not just ignition cycles — actual movement)
- Check GPS signal quality in the area — poor GPS slows calibration
- If still stuck: unpair and re-pair the camera in MyGeotab, then repeat the above
